The Private Pilot Licence is a 45-hour course teaching you to fly a light aircraft. It can be a full or part-time course as required. Qualifying students will be able to rent or buy a light aircraft and fly in good weather conditions.

How much does it cost?
You can start off paying hourly, currently £207 per hour, or you can buy the full course for £9045.
How do I know it's for me?
Before committing to a full course it's best to have a trial lesson, we sell gift vouchers for these here. And your lesson can be logged towards your total training hours
Does it matter if I'm new to flying?
This course can be started with no previous flying experience. If you have any hours logged from another provider we will check these over and add qualifying hours to your total.
How much do I have to study?
Outside of the 45 hours of in-aircraft training, you will need to study for 9 PPL examinations. We can provide materials and tuition towards these exams.
When can I get started?
COVID restrictions apply to Flight Training at this level currently (Jan 21)
Usually, we are able to get you started with a few day's notice, however, we can be busy especially during the summer. We are open for flight training 7 days a week from 9am to 5pm (or darkness during winter)
What are the entrance requirements?
You need to be over 17 to sit your skills test at the end, but you can start flying from age 14 and go solo from age 16.
You will also need get a Class 2 medical from the CAA.
What can I do with this licence?
This licence allows you to fly with friends and family across the UK and further. You will need to be flying in favourable weather, with a good view of the ground below you and the horizon in the distance. And only during hours of daylight. You can add further licences to reduce the restrictions on this licence and increase your safety while flying.
What further training can I do?
After you have your PPL you can continue on to further commercial training with Tayside Aviation. You can qualify for direct entry on to the Airline Transport Pilot Licence with BSc (Hons) course.
